What Can Your Faith Do?
There are moments when you know what God’s Word says, but everything around you seems to say the opposite. You have prayed, you have believed, yet the situation has not changed. What do you do then? Do you allow what you see to determine your response, or do you hold on to what God has said?
Look at Abraham. God told him to leave his country and go to a place He would show him, and Abraham went even though he did not know where he was going (Hebrews 11:8). Then there was Noah. God warned him about something he had never seen, and he built the ark because he believed God’s Word (Hebrews 11:7). They didn’t have all the details, but they had God’s Word, and they acted on it. Abraham’s faith moved him to obey, and Noah’s faith moved him to prepare. What is your faith moving you to do?
This is what faith can look like in your everyday life. When circumstances are difficult, it gives you something stronger than what you see to stand on. When you’re waiting, it keeps you anchored in God’s Word. And when you have a decision to make, it helps you respond from God’s Word rather than from fear or uncertainty. So, when you look at what you’re facing right now, what could change if you chose to act on God’s Word rather than on what you see?
The Bible says, “The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17, NKJV). Faith is not something we only talk about; it is how we live.
But how do you build that kind of faith? The Bible tells us, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17, NKJV). As you consistently hear and study God’s Word, your faith is built, and you become more confident in responding to what God has said. That is where faith moves from something you believe to something you live.
God has given each of us “the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3, NKJV). So, the question is not whether you have faith, but what you are doing with the faith you have.
This is where How to Make Your Faith Work by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome comes in. This book takes you deeper into the faith attitude in prayer, different levels of faith, weak and strong faith, and how to build a prevailing faith.
