FAITH THAT WORKS; Insight from ‘How to Make Your Faith Work’

Faith that works

“When you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, nothing shall be impossible unto you.” These were Jesus’ words in Matthew 17:20. In response to these words, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, in the book ‘How to Make Your Faith Work,’ raises some profound questions: “Why do many of God’s people pray, fast, cry, sow seed, confess scriptures, and still experience frustrations and even tragedies in their finances, health, jobs, marriages, and businesses? Why do they always end up questioning, “Oh God, Why?”

He added that many who find themselves asking these questions or facing such situations have one major problem: they haven’t learned “HOW TO MAKE THEIR FAITH WORK” This brings us to the topic; FAITH THAT WORKS.

How can you move beyond simply believing in God’s promises and seeing them come to fruition in your life? According to Hebrews 11:1, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. He explained this verse, saying that if you have hope for anything, faith is what gives it substance. Faith gives you every reason to affirm something before you see it with your physical eyes. What a profitable assurance on the promises of God, only if you have the Faith that Works.

In the book, How to Make Your Faith Work Pastor Chris provides explicit guidance on the faith that works, teaching us how our faith can be profitable. This article is just an insight; getting the book, if you haven’t yet, will be just what you need.

Let’s dig in!

Moving Beyond Belief: Taking Action in Your Faith

You can’t just believe and expect miracles to happen, it’s time to get up and start taking action in your faith! Faith without works is dead, as the scripture says.

Believing is only the beginning of a fruitful journey with God, but it’s not enough. You need to put your faith into practice through actions that demonstrate your love for Him.

In the Book ‘How to Make Your Faith Work Pastor Chris briefly distinguished between believing and faith, using an illustration of someone who was sick, constantly praying, “Lord, heal me! I believe you can.” He emphasized that this isn’t faith; it’s merely believing. True faith, he explained, involves acting on what you believe. If you genuinely believe God can heal you, and God’s Word declares, “By His stripes, you are healed,” as someone who knows how to make their faith work, you must start acting on God’s Word. Declare, “I am healed,” and act like a healed person; that’s how you receive it.

He further clarified that mere belief without corresponding action will lead to no progress. Faith, he stressed, is the action that aligns with your belief. Therefore, it’s essential to keep your faith active!

The Power of Spoken Words: Speaking Faith into Existence

Speaking positive words can bring our desires into reality. Words have power, and when we speak them out of faith, they become a force that shapes our future.

The Bible tells us that ‘death and life are in the power of the tongue’ (Proverbs 18:21). This means that the words we speak can either build up or tear down our lives.

When we speak words of faith, we activate God’s power in our lives. We declare His promises and believe that they’ll come to pass. As we continue to confess these words over ourselves, our circumstances begin to align with what we’re speaking.

Our minds become renewed to think in agreement with God’s Word, and eventually, our actions follow suit. So today, choose to speak positive words over your life. Declare God’s promises concerning your health, finances, relationships, or any other area where you need a breakthrough.

Trust Him to bring those things into existence as you keep speaking His truth over yourself!

Trusting in God’s Promises: Overcoming Doubt and Fear

Trusting in God’s promises can be challenging when doubts and fears arise, but leaning on His faithfulness and unwavering love can bring peace and strength to overcome them.

Remember that God isn’t a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that He should repent. If He promised you something, it’ll come to pass. It may not happen in your timing or how you expect it to, but trust that His ways are higher than yours and His thoughts are higher than yours.

Similar to Peter walking on water, he had faith when his gaze was on his Master “Jesus”. But when the storm came, he got scared and lost his gaze. Many of us let doubt and fear make us forget God’s promises. Instead of letting our problems overwhelm us, we should trust God’s words and have strong faith, the kind that works.

Hold onto the truth of God’s Word. Meditate on scriptures such as Proverbs 3:5-6  which says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Pray for wisdom and discernment to know when doubt is trying to take root in your heart. And most importantly, remember who God is: faithful, loving, merciful, gracious, just. Trusting in Him means trusting in His character as well as His promises.

So, go forth with confidence knowing that nothing can separate you from the love of Christ and that all things work together for good for those who love Him!

Boldly Stepping Out: Taking Risks in Your Faith Journey

When stepping out boldly in your journey with Him, don’t be afraid to take risks and let God surprise you with His faithfulness. It can be scary to step out of our comfort zones and take a leap of faith, but remember that God is with you every step of the way.

He has promised never to leave or forsake us, so we can trust that even if things don’t go as planned, He will still work all things together for our good.

James 2:17-18, it says ‘Faith by itself, if it doesn’t have works, is dead…Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.‘ So, when we take risks in our faith journey and step out boldly in obedience to God’s calling, we are demonstrating our faith.

We are showing the world that we believe in a God who is bigger than any obstacle or fear we may encounter. So, go ahead and take those bold steps – trust that God will guide you every step of the way!

When you take action on what you believe, you’ll see the power of God working through you and transforming lives around you. Remember, faith isn’t just about getting what you want from God; it’s about becoming more like Him every day through loving acts of service toward others. [James 2:15-16]

Transforming Your Life: Seeing Tangible Results Through Faith

You can witness tangible transformation and growth that surpasses your wildest expectations by implementing God’s teachings and principles into your daily life.

One way to see transformation in your life according to Pastor Chris is having The God kind of faith; Strong and great. Faith that can withstand any challenge not little or weak.

He made an illustration of Peter and Thomas’s kind of Faith that was little and double-minded. He encouraged us through the lesson of Abraham who staggered not at God’s promises and his life was transformed.

It starts with having faith in God’s promises, believing that He’s able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Then, take action by aligning your thoughts and actions with His word, allowing it to guide every decision you make.

As you put your faith into action, expect to see results. Your relationships will improve as you practice forgiveness and love towards others. Your financial situation will improve as you honor God with your finances and trust Him for provision.

As you continue to walk in faith, the transformational power of God will be evident in every aspect of your life.

 Conclusion

Therefore, I say unto you, that whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. [Mark 11:24] To attain healing, or anything you believe God for, simply believe you have received it already by acting accordingly and giving thanks just like Abraham. This is How you make your faith work

To attain everything, we desire through God’s Word, we must master the art of unwavering faith in Him. Pleasing God hinges on having such faith and diligently seeking Him without wavering or being double-minded, [Hebrews 11:6]

You need to understand how to claim everything that rightfully belongs to you in Christ and lead the triumphant, victorious, prosperous, joy-filled life that God has destined for you.

However, this is only achievable if you know how to activate your faith. Remember, without faith, it’s impossible to please God. Therefore, take the initial step by nurturing a faith that truly works.

Don’t hesitate to grab a copy of the book How to Make Your Faith Work today! and proudly embrace your Christian journey. Always remember that with a faith that operates effectively, nothing is beyond reach!
