WHY DID ELISHA “DISOBEY ELIJAH” AND WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM IT?
The question is” Did Elisha really disobey or was there a higher calling.
In the Bible, the prophet Elijah was about to be taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire. Before he left, he asked Elisha, his successor, to stay behind. But Elisha refused, saying, “As the Lord lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” (2 Kings 2:2).
Some people might think that Elisha was disobeying Elijah. But in reality, he had worked with Elijah for long time to understand the power of persistence- (remember when he prayed for rain). This is why he thought to himself: If the Lord has sent you to Bethel and the same Lord asked me to follow you, then what will I be doing here while you go on to Bethel. He understood higher authority and instruction.
In the Book “Don’t Stop Here”, Pastor Chris expounds on the significance of Elisha’s insistence and each of the places they journeyed to.
The question is: Is there some instruction you need to “disobey” to obey a higher instruction from God? God’s instruction to leave where you are to where you ought to be is paramount.

I PLANTED A MANGO SEED AND HARVESTED A CORN FIELD…
With great excitement and anticipation, I carefully nurtured a small mango seedling, ensuring it received adequate sunlight, water, and nutrients. Day by day, I witnessed its growth, with tender leaves unfurling and tiny branches extending towards the sky. As my mango tree continued to flourish, I noticed peculiar sprouts emerging from the ground nearby. To my utter amazement, these sprouts grew rapidly, revealing themselves to be cornstalks instead!
How could this have happened? I realized that a nearby farmer had accidentally planted corn seeds in close proximity to my mango tree, and they had begun to take up even more space than my own mango plant.
I realized that while my efforts were focused on growing a mango tree and not investing enough time in weeding and cultivating, the cornstalks had started taking over.
