You’ve been praying for a breakthrough, that dream job, or maybe for healing in your family. You’ve put your faith in God’s plan, but the answer feels frustratingly silent. Bills pile up, doubt creeps in, and that familiar question surfaces: “Am I doing something wrong? Is this even part of God’s plan?” “Understanding Faith: Your Guide to a More Fulfilling Life”
life can feel like a wild storm, throwing punches left and right. you’re gripping tight, knuckles white, wondering how to weather this whole thing, wondering if you’ve missed some divine instruction manual. But what if faith isn’t about Having everything go smoothly?
Faith is gripping God’s hand for courage to navigate the storm. Let’s see some examples from the bible of brave men who understood Faith and lived a fulfilling life.
Abraham’s Example: Resilient Faith
Abraham, despite being nearly a hundred years old and Sarah’s womb being barren, did not waver in his faith. He trusted God’s promise that he would be the father of many nations. His faith was not passive; it was active and strong, as he glorified God and was fully persuaded that God could fulfill His promise.
This implies that you should continually remind yourself of what God has promised. Meditate on His word and let it sink deep into your heart. Do not allow the seeming impossibilities to distract you. Keep your focus on God’s ability rather than your limitations. Regularly speak out God’s promises, affirming your belief in His ability to fulfill them.
Faith in Action: Speaking and Acting on God’s Word
James 2:17 states, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” True faith is demonstrated through actions that align with God’s word. The woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34) exemplifies this. Despite her long-term suffering and the improbability of healing, she believed that touching Jesus’ garment would heal her. Her faith was active—she acted on her belief, and her healing followed.
Identify practical steps you can take that demonstrate your faith. Just as the woman reached out to touch Jesus’ garment, take actions that reflect your trust in God’s promises. Even if the situation seems unchanged, persist in your faith-filled actions. Keep pressing forward with confidence. Position yourself in places and situations where you can experience God’s power, just as the woman sought to be where Jesus was.
Overcoming Doubt: The Story of Gideon
Gideon’s story in (Judges 6-7) is a compelling example of overcoming doubt. Initially, Gideon doubted his ability and God’s promise to save Israel through him. He asked for signs to confirm God’s word, such as the fleece test (Judges 6:36-40). Despite his initial doubt, Gideon eventually trusted God’s plan and led a small army of 300 men to victory against the Midianites.
It is okay to ask God for confirmation. Pray and seek clarity in God’s word and through the Holy Spirit. Recognize that it is not about your ability but God’s power working through you. Lean on His strength and wisdom. Even when you feel inadequate, take the first step in obedience. Trust that God will guide and support you as you move forward.
Faith Through Perseverance: The Story of Job
Job’s story is one of incredible perseverance. Despite losing his wealth, health, and family, Job did not lose his faith in God. In (Job 13:15), he declares, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.” Job’s unwavering faith amidst severe trials demonstrates that true faith persists even when everything seems lost. In the midst of trials, cling to God and His promises. Keep your faith anchored in His unchanging nature. Understand that God’s timing is perfect. Trust that He is working behind the scenes for your good. Allow God to be your source of comfort and strength. Spend time in prayer and worship, drawing near to Him.
Giving Thanks in Challenges
Building on the examples we explored, it’s clear that faith isn’t about perfect understanding at the beginning. Instead, it grows as we follow God’s instructions and navigate life’s situations.
King David’s life exemplifies giving thanks to God amid adversity. Despite numerous trials, he consistently praised God, as seen in (Psalm 34:1), “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” David’s example teaches us to focus on God’s goodness, make thanksgiving your daily practice, and use worship to shift focus from problems to God. By following David’s example, we can develop a faith that remains strong through challenges, keeping our hearts aligned with God’s will.
Remember God’s word in (Hebrews 11:6) “But without faith, it is impossible to please God: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” This verse highlights the essential role of faith in a Christian’s life. To have faith is one thing, but to make it work is another.
